1) Game Progress
******************
Most of the game progress this week has had to do with putting our
development team together. More interviews were conducted last week
and I continue to be amazed a the level of talent I'm seeing. It's
such a shame that most of these guys have to take crappy jobs just to
make ends meet when they have more than enough ability to create some
of the best games out there. Only one week of interviews are left after
which the final decisions will be made and the team will be in place.
The official announcement will be made when the new WGU website launches
in late August. Animation tests have been coming in and I have yet to
see even one animation that wasn't perfect. I'm looking forward to
sharing them with you in the coming weeks.
Distribution of the game has been an issue I've been dealing with
this week as well and it looks like we'll be able to get the game in
everyone's hands even without a major publishing deal. At least one
popular retail outlet appears willing to work with us on an independent
level. More news on this as it develops.
2) Fan sites and message boards
*******************************
As I mentioned last week, fan sites and message boards are beginning
to pop
up on all over the net. I'd like to thank those gamers who took the time
and trouble to support the WGU project in this way. Fan support like
this adds
a credibility to our project that money just can't buy. This is
especially
encouraging considering the fact that the game isn't even done yet. No
screenshots, no confirmed features, no movie clips, nothing. And yet
people
have so much faith in what the WGU is doing that they're donating their
time
and effort to actively support us. Thanks, guys.
One of the first WGU fan sites is up and running. The two guys that
built
this site regularly catch me on ICQ and they've already submitted tons
of ideas
for the game. I plan on distributing screenshots and other material to
fan
sites like this to help them grow in the future. The site is still under
construction and there are a few broken links but I wanted to share it
with
you anyway. Check out the crazy box art they designed just for fun...

There are at least three public WGU message boards that I'm aware of
and I
encourage all of you to check them out and get involved in the
conversation.
The people that run these boards scan them regularly and send me updates
of
all new ideas left on the boards. They do a great job of collecting and
organizing so much information and I hope you support them by dropping
by
voicing your opinions.

Keep up the good work guys!
3) WGU Website
**************
The new WGU website is shaping up nicely. It'll have a much more
professional
design than the last one which I whipped up in an afternoon. One of the
new
areas of the website will feature pictures and bios of the WGU design
team.
You'll get to know each and every member of our team and give them the
credit
they deserve for all the hard work they'll be doing to bring this game
to life
for all of us. Finally, animators and programmers will be accessible to
the
public and able to bask in the glow of your loving admiration and
praise. The
launch date for the new WGU website has been set at August 30th.
In the meantime and in between time, that's it. Another edition of
Wrestling Gamers United.
Thanks for your time and support,
Dave W.
